WHO WE WORK WITH
Spiral Q works with communities and groups of all kinds in the city of Philadelphia and beyond: artists, activists, educators, schools, youth service providers, community-based organizations, cultural centers, civic association, HIV/AIDS service and advocacy groups, LBGTQ groups, advocates for the homeless, addiction centers, and mental health providers. Our work and methods resonate with folks of all ages and backgrounds, see below for examples of partnerships.
YOUTH
Spiral Q’s work with pre-teens, teens and young adults emphasizes critical thinking and leadership development. We promote the power of self-determination and create safe spaces for expression from the personal to the political. Youth can connect with Spiral Q through volunteer opportunities and apprenticeships. Organizations can bring Spiral Q artists into youth program spaces through hired workshops and residencies.
ACTIVISTS
Committed to supporting our community member’s First Amendment rights, Spiral Q works with activists of all stripes and levels of experience to take their messaging to the next level. Consulting on messaging and tactics, leading production of puppets and props, checking out items from our collection, and loaning tools and materials are some of the ways we support activists in their work.
GROWN FOLKS
Spiral Q is not just for kids! We design and facilitate professional development opportunities for corporations and organizations, provide trainings for teachers and other education professionals, and we have deep experience leading storytelling, art and theater-making workshops with adult populations in residential treatment centers.
ARTISTS
Spiral Q supports artists that are aligned with our mission and work. We can provide work space, lend tools and equipment, donate materials, provide visibility opportunities, offer technical support and even act as a fiscal sponsor.
SCHOOLS
Spiral Q has worked in Philadelphia area schools for the past 17 years. Partnering with school administration and teachers designs arts projects that connect to common core curriculum, bring unity to school communities through shared experience and create space for student voice and innovation.
UNIVERSITIES
Spiral Q works with colleges and universities to connect our work and practice to curricula. This can range from in-depth multi-session arts trainings, to lectures on our practice, to participation in panel discussions, to linking students up to meaningful internship opportunities that connect their studies with real world experience.
ARTS ORGANIZATIONS
Combining creative forces is a beautiful thing. Spiral Q works with arts organizations of all kinds to enliven community events, elevate artistic performances, and enrich original exhibitions. Collaborations, commissions, consultations and collection loans can bring an arts organization’s work to a new exciting place.
COMMUNITY CONNECTORS
Spiral Q works with event producers, community development corporations and public institutions to strategize tactics for community engagement – from consultation on event design and outreach to creating hands-on participatory activities utilizing Spiral Q’s range of skills results in meaningful community connections.
