We are a small but far-reaching team, and we include a cohort of artists and educators who work on a per-project basis, and a corps of emerging leaders who apprentice through our partnerships with area universities, a slew of volunteer artists and community members who support studio sessions and events, and an amazing board of directors who provide leadership and organizational guidance.
As a nonprofit organization, Spiral Q has consistently been at the forefront of arts and organizing. From nurturing creative community dialogue around critical social issues, to producing large-scale cultural events, and designing arts and educational programs that connect communities to social movements, we cultivate creative leadership and advance collaborative and cooperative approaches to community-building. Spiral Q is a place where people from all walks of life come to inspire others and be inspired, to invigorate and be invigorated, to witness and be witnessed.

APPRENTICESHIPS
Below positions are only paid if through off-campus work-study with Temple and UPENN or if you can arrange a paid internship through your university.
Spiral Q seeks fearless college and university students to join our pool of promising, powerful apprentices. Come develop professional skills in a supportive work environment while learning the ins and outs of art-making and risk-taking. Candidates will demonstrate the capacity to handle exciting responsibilities for Spiral Q, and work in areas that develop their natural strengths and abilities. TEACHING ARTISTS CO-HORT – OPEN APPLICATIONS UNTIL NOV 30th 2022
Spiral Q seeks experienced, passionate and innovative art educators with a commitment to social change to join our artist cohort. Spiral Q artists lead in-school, after school in person residencies with K-12th graders in Philadelphia & Camden schools. They teach sequential project-based workshops in after school programs around the city. Our pool of artists facilitate workshops in which students work collaboratively using accessible and recycled materials resulting in a variety of visual arts and multimedia projects. Ideal candidates will have strong classroom management skills and understand the power of art, arts education, and social justice. They will be undaunted creative problem-solvers, quick on their feet, and demonstrate an ability to engage, challenge, and interest people of all ages.

The primary responsibility of Spiral Q’s Board of Directors is to govern the Q and to care for and grow the organization’s financial and other resources, in accordance with its values, in order that the Q can best fulfill its mission and hear and support the goals of its constituency. VOLUNTEER WITH THE Q!
Spiral Q is always in need of can-do attitudes and courageous sets of hands and hearts. Help make Spiral Q events and programs possible!
