PEOPLEHOOD 2023

Last year an incredible 43 groups, and over 600 people, joined the Peoplehood Parade to represent their work, their communities, and to walk in solidarity with each other as we celebrate those living and working at the forefront of fighting against oppression and discrimination.

Peoplehood is not just an an event, it is also a beautiful art-making and community building process that takes hundreds of artists, activists, adults, children, and community members to create. Peoplehood is shaped by the people who create it, and we’d love you and/or your group be a part of that process.

JOIN IN PEOPLEHOOD COMMUNITY ART BUILDS

Everyone is welcome to help create the Peoplehood parade and pageant together this Fall in Spiral Q’s community art builds! All experience levels are invited to join in the puppet and prop building, paper machéing, cutting, painting, screen printing, sewing, idea-generating, and community building that lies ahead. We will be working with activists and community groups to create art for their protest and advocacy campaigns in the streets (and in the Peoplehood Parade) and developing and creating the Peoplehood Pageant! We will schedule times with groups so we can plan to org-specific projects, but individuals can drop in anytime – stay for a whole session, or pop in for a few hours! Peoplehood is powered by the people after all.

Check out Art Build dates, details on space and accessibility, parking and more in this comprehensive art build doc.

If you want to sign your group up to make art for your campaign and Peoplehood fill out this form. Feel free to reach out with any questions at community@spiralq.org.
