INQUIRY
We asked: how does a community embrace, celebrate and understand a particular moment of great change and difference? How can a community embrace change from a place of welcoming and inclusion, rather than from a place of fear, scarcity and deficit?
CREATION
Constructions of a body of work that included over 150 puppets, along with parade art that reflected the student body’s cultural heritage and where they come from.
PUBLISHING
3 parades, 1 per each year of the project, which received news coverage, were witnessed and supported by parent involvement. Neighborhood parades each had significant audiences.
In Spiral Q I feel like I can stand up and talk instead of being shy all the time, like I am trying to stay out of sight.
