Chinatown Connections (A Puppet Parade + Festival)
Using art and parade to highlight traffic safety in Chinatown

Saturday November 11th
Parade at noon from 10th and Vine to Franklin Square
Festival from 1-4 at Franklin Square

Accompany Spiral Q as we partner with the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation (PCDC), Chinatown institutions and community members  for the  “Chinatown Connections: Bridging Our Community” Parade and Festival – a joyful, noisy puppet parade for Chinatown neighbors to take back their streets, connect to their parks and celebrate their culture!

Every day, children and seniors walk across Vine Street Expressway and Race Street to get their schools and parks – institutions like Holy Redeemer, FACTS Charter School and Children’s Village. We’re marching for safer, more connected streets and for the future of Chinatown. This Fall, Spiral Q has been working with PCDC to plan the parade and festival and facilitate story telling and art making workshops with daycare centers and senior centers for the parade.

Join us afterwards for an open sidewalk festival next to the park!

12 PM – PARADE @ 10th and Vine
Join Chinatown neighbors as we march together hoisting puppets, flags and banners, joined by the Philadelphia SUNS Lion Dancers, and the West Powelton Drum Squad!
1-4 PM – FESTIVAL @ Race St between 7th and 8th St on the lawn
We’ll bring the park out to the street with performances, crafts, screen printing, mask making, a bouncy house, giveaways and more!
