IN RESIDENCE

Spiral Q has been in residence at longstanding neighborhood gallery Art on the Avenue since February 2016. With segments of our vast “living” collection of giant puppets, banners, flags, signs and more on display, Art on the Avenue is a powerful point of entry to our work and the communities we partner with. We also use this public space as a way to connect to and benefit our communities, exhibiting artists whose work connects to themes of social justice and identity, and hosting neighborhood events like meetings, performances and workshops.

LANCASTER AVENUE SECOND FRIDAYS

A time to share new work on display, take part in hands on activities, see performances, or just hear about what’s new with Spiral Q and have a snack, Spiral Q takes part in our corridor’s monthly community-building event that places the spotlight on local artists, restaurants and entertainers. Check out our events page or sign up for our e-news to find out what we have planned next.

TOURS AND WORKSHOPS

All ages (ideal ages 8 and up). Our puppet collection is a living document of twenty years of personal and collective stories of struggle, identity, and justice in Philadelphia. Tour participants learn about Spiral Q’s history, talk about why and how to make puppets, and get close-up looks at lots of puppets from our collection! Email community@spiralq.org or call 215-222-6979 to learn more.

HOSTING EVENTS

Spiral Q sees our residence at Art on the Avenue as an opportunity to connect with community in numerous ways. We’ve partnered with neighbors and Q community members in hosting meetings, discussions, performances, screenings, exhibitions and even birthday parties. If you’re interested in connecting to Art on the Avenue e-mail community@spiralq.org or  call 215-222-6979.
