Character design! “Tell a story about a time you felt the power of someone taking action to advocate or protect.” After learning about Martin Luther King Jr’s “Freedom Now” speech at 40th and Lancaster Ave. in 1965, SparQ in School students collaboratively created puppet characters coming out of personal stories of advocacy shared in story circles. Puppets of people in their lives like Queen Justice who is an imaginary fourth grader who turns into a super hero after school and protects her peers from bullying and one of a student’s brother who is seen as a caregiver and protector. #sparqinschools#spiralq
