Spiral Q has been performing in and around Philadelphia for over a decade. Our activities can be tailor-made to your needs and are perfect for after school programs, summer camps and group assemblies. They serve as an entertaining introduction to students of all ages interested in constructing puppets.

Performances for Hire
Hire us for your private party, corporate event, block party, other festive get-together or to craft a new show on your subject of choice!

We will bring our beautiful giant puppets, humongous flags, noise-makers, stilt-walkers and masks to infuse your celebration with creative revelry. We can alter our puppet antics to fit the scale, length and theme of your event and the age of your guests. We specialize in audience participation, and love to involve as many folks as possible in the creation of Spiral Q spectacles. Our professional puppeteers will gladly instruct kids and adults at any level of performance experience in the ramshackle art of giant puppet manipulation and spirited revelry.

Spiral Q also performs original and imaginative small shows that are ready to travel to your school, camp, or neighborhood. Two Q favorites are “The Frosty Adventures of Glad Alice,” a hand puppet and toy-theater show celebrating cooperation and the surprising joys of winter, and “I’m A Lima,” our spring/summer show focusing on the benefits of fruits, vegetables, and local agriculture through masks, music, and storytelling. We also love to participate in question-and-answer sessions after performances when audience members can try out the puppets for themselves.

Spiral Q Puppet Theater’s new winter puppet show for Children and Adults. It’s a festive and creative way for audiences of all ages to enjoy this chilly season! 

Spiral Q Puppet Theater’s new winter show helps audiences forget about the chapped lips, cold noses and icy darkness of this chilly season.  Through the urban travels of a squirrel named Alice, we help a goose migrate, a bear hibernate, and a grumpy group of humans end their boycott of winter and embrace the possibility of a society based on mutual aid and hot cocoa.

Using hand and rod puppetry, masks, and audience participation, this 30-minute show is a festive, non-denominational, celebration of the imagination and the season.

It can be performed for up to 100 people. It is affordably priced and along with the show we also offer puppet making workshops, and/or a winter parade.

Workshops Offered:
Crown and Headgear: Create wonderful winter hats or masks. Make anything from snowman masks to Snowflake hats.
Animal Hand Puppets: Create small winter animal hand puppets using feathers, fur and much more.
Hanging Snowflakes: Make beautiful snowflakes for our winter parade.
Parade: Winter is a time for celebration. Join us in a parade with flags, musical instruments, masks and more

Storybook Hour

Toy Theater took early nineteenth century plays out of the theater and into living rooms. Using miniature replicas of the world’s most famous stages, adults and children acted out the stage dramas of their day with these small scale productions of giant theater. Spiral Q follows in this tradition with a collection of short Toy Theater productions addressing the contemporary issues that are full of information, call and response and intersections of learning trough songs and more!

Spiral Q has a variety of Toy Theater shows for the season. Each two person, half-hour show is followed by a conversation facilitated by our puppeteers, during this talk student will be able to handle and inspect the puppets. These shows can be presented individually or seen together and are great going along with a workshop!


Giant Puppets

Giant puppets can add excitement and attention to your community day, park event, neighborhood celebration or corporate party. In consultation with Spiral Q you can choose from any number of 12-15 foot puppets that puppeteers will bring to your event!

With amazing scale and awesome interactive fun, these giant creatures enliven any event with memory-making moments for a complete range of ages. A half-hour training session can be added to the day, for a minimal charge, so that teens or adults from your group can be a part of the performance!
