Arts and Organizing

Spiral Q doesn’t just work in schools—we work with all sorts of groups in neighborhoods throughout the city. Our history of supporting creative community organizing goes back to our founding, and in recent years has expanded in a way that supports not only activists and organizers, but also entire communities coming together to lay claim to their neighborhoods and assert their collective vision of strength and change. Spiral Q seeks to support the intersection of arts and organizing. We do so through our Justice Works program, which supports activists and community groups seeking to make a greater impact through the use of large scale art, and Parade Partnerships such as the Norris Square Project, which is an innovative approach that is creating traditions of community-owned neighborhood transformations. For more information on Justice Works, contact us at spiralq@spiralq.org.

If you are part of a neighborhood group or community organization interested in learning more about parade partnerships, please reach out to spiralq@spiralq.org.

Norris Square Parade Project

Each year, Spiral Q brings together Norris Square community groups to produce a parade and festival through which residents lay claim to their neighborhood, asserting their collective vision of strength and change. Together, they realize ambitious plans that build skills, confidence, and can-do attitudes. Thus, in the face of significant challenges, residents gain I CAN and WE CAN experiences that inspire sustained individual and collective commitments to neighborhood transformation.
